Making Things

As teachers, we often set up tables and prompts that follow the children's interest, or set ups that can be utilised in a variety of ways, rather than putting a specific goal in mind, but setting up open prompts.

The below set up was put on the table when the children were focusing on making things, from kites to planes, to cards for their friends, or just practicing cutting up their drawing.

It's all wonderful work for their imagination, their spatial awareness, their creativity, oral language, and their social skills as they sit at the table in groups discussing what they're creating and making suggestions for their friends.

Such a lot of possible learning from a table with some paper, pens, straws, and tape.
